The Importance of Having a Delicious Body Wash that Makes You Feel Amazing.

The scents we surround ourselves with have a huge impact on how we feel, the other day I came across (for the first time in a looooong time) the earthy, metallic smell of sprinklers on a hot day and was immediately taken back to age 7, running around the backyard through sprinklers with a friend.

I’m sure you can think of some too! The smell of Mum’s moisturiser, freshly baked biscuits, the perfume of an old lover… scents are powerful little molecules!

It’s with this in mind that I propose we all need to have the most fantastic soap / body wash possible, one that makes you want to run to the shower and never leave, filling you with feelings of hope, pleasure and wellbeing.

So! I’d like to invite you into my shower to have a mosey around and check out some of the beautiful body washes that are currently rockin’ my world…

Philosophy Melon Daiquiri Shampoo, Bubble Bath & Shower Gel!

Starting out with one of my absolute faves! Melon Daiquiri means I’ve been smelling like tangy melon for months now and absolutely love it. My mouth is actually watering writing about it!

Cinnamon Buns Shampoo, Bubble Bath & Shower Gel!

My 2nd Philosophy go-to makes my morning shower smell like a warm bakery (and also makes it incredibly difficult to leave!), this one is currently not available through Australian online stores, but you can find it at Sephora if you love the sound of it.

If you’re not aware of the Philosophy range of products you MUST do yourself a favour and check them out!

Coming in an amazing range of true-scents, you’ll wonder how you ever got by without smelling like your favourite fruit or dessert, I’ve previously had the Raspberry Sorbet & Strawberry Milkshake flavours and can highly reccomend them too 🙂

This Works! In the Zone.

Blending Frankincense & Eucalyptus scents, In the Zone by This Works is like a pep-talk for when you’re feeling exhausted or run down. The newest addition to my crowded shower, ITZ has carved a place among my top used products because it’s perfect for all your pre and post busy day issues.

Don’t want to be awake? It helps invigorate and get your morning off to a fab start.

Rough day at the office? In the Zone is there massaging your shoulders and telling you you’re a trooper.

Feeling run down or just exercised your butt off? The little white bottle is smiling at you knowingly.

I adore it and I think you will too.

While these body washes may be a little more pricey than your $5 number from Woolies, (Philosophy – RRP $38 & This Works RRP $48) I believe it’s worth the price to have an amazing smell and experience that will last you long past the time you’ve hung up your towel (or in my case, left it on the floor in a heap) and I haven’t personally found a cheapie that gets me going quite like these guys!

Philosophy & This Works products available from Mecca Cosmetica, online and in store.

How about you…

What’s your favourite shower gel / body wash?

Do you like to spend up or be thrifty when it comes to cleaning yourself?

Would love to hear!

Be well,

Philosophy. Oh boy. That brand is a winner. As well as the daiquri bodywash (which have to remind myself not to drink in the shower) they have lipgloss that I could just put on my tongue rather than my lips. This will sound gross until you smell them too and then you will understand how badly I want to eat them.

  2. Athanae says:

I love anything with coconut in it. I worked for years at The Body Shop so their coconut range was a staple for me, especially in summer. After moving out of home though I’ve had to be more thrifty and the Radox coconut works a treat, especially when I can buy it in the 1L size.

  3. Catherine Lock says:

I admit I am quite the cheapskate when it comes to body wash. I have been known to buy those bulk refills in the toiletries aisle, and once even purchased liquid hand soap to use as body wash because it was way cheaper (with the exact same ingredients I might add!). At the moment I am using Radox ‘Coconut Rush’ body wash, and I like the way it smells. I find it does leave my skin feeling a little dry though. Perhaps I will have to try some of the expensive stuff, if it helps to moisturise my skin better I think I can be converted!

  4. Jess says:

I don’t really spend much money on body wash but I’ve received plenty of nice Philosophy ones for bdays and xmas..they smell soooo good.

The thing is, for everyday use I like body wash that isn’t too overpowering when it comes to smell (same with body moisturiser), so I just go for something like johnson&johnson moisturising body wash.

  5. Liv B says:

I have fairly sensitive skin so I have to use soap free soaps & moisturisers. I’m not sure what the extact ingredient is I’m suppose to avoid but it’s in soaps, moisturisers, some lipsticks even!
I too am not one for spending a lot on a body wash, but the Palmolive milk range (milk & honey & there’s a floral one too which I have at the moment) are really lovely & soft on my skin.
That being said, I’m pretty sure I’d fork out the money to smell like a melon daquiri all day! Delicious!

  6. Betty D says:

I used a delicious lemon salt scrub that I was given for christmas one year.. only to never find it again. I love a good scrub! Right now I am using a cheap supermarket brand – Lux – but with my Riffi body mitt which provides an excellent exfoliation all over. However, that saying the cinnamon buns body wash mentioned in the above article sounds devine! Must keep an eye out for that one!

  7. I want the cinnamon one so badly! I’m going to get it for sure!

  8. Kelly says:

Philosophy is a def fav, Raspberry Sorbet sits proudly on my shower shelf; another one is the Kit Cosmetics Apple & Vanilla that I have raved on about in the past. If you recommend a shower gel that stays on my skin the whole day then I would be v. impressed!

  9. Sarah says:

I don’t like to admit to flowering myself up for guys, but using awesome smelling body washes is my subtle attempt at turning on the charm. I love anything really sweet and fruity, particularly peachy, that gets its biggest bang when you toss your hair. Doesn’t necessarily have to be pricey – even Palmolive works a treat – but sometimes I do like to splurge on a bottle that has to be kept under the sink until shower time to avoid the evil snatches of housemates.

  10. Bron says:

I have really sensitive skin so often end up using sorbelene-based, soap-free washes. Currently using Redwin Sorbolene Bodywash – about $11 for 1L, so really good value. But yeah, once in a while a girl has to treat herself… Then I can’t go past the BodyShop’s Spa Wisdom Afrique range.

  11. Annette @ Wellness WA says:

Wow! So good to hear all your feedback 🙂 Looks like the jury is out on this one.

My fave low end body wash is QV as it’s non-drying, but I’m always going to have a weak spot for the sweet foody scents 🙂
