Green Smoothies: A New Kind of Beauty Therapy!

Women spend thousands of dollars every day on beauty products, therapies and treatments to look good and feel younger, but forget about the importance of greens, which can have amazing beauty benefits.

Green smoothies are full of nutrients which when incorporated into your daily regime have amazing effects such as: brightened eyes, radiant skin, strengthened nails, healthy hair, plump and supple skin, and the body also has an increased ability to heal itself. Not to mention increased energy, motivation and assistance with being at your ideal weight!

If there was one dietary change that would make the most profound difference in your life, drinking a green smoothie a day would be it.

Recipe:
1 Pear
1 Apple
½ Avocado
1 tablespoon of freshly grated ginger
2 cups of spinach
2 cups of filtered water

Method:

Chop the pear and apple into cubes and place in the blender. Add avocado and ginger then the spinach and water. Blend on high for 30 seconds. Makes 1 litre – half for now, half for later 🙂

    Does this recipe keep overnight, so we can drink the second half on Day 2?

    Hi Tammi,

    You definitely can as long as it is refrigerated! I would also recommend doing the smoothie at night if you’re going to be having the second lot in the morning.

    The reason is fairly simple, as you know food oxidises once it’s been cut (think apples turning brown), and this also means the nutrients aren’t as high quality!

    The sooner you drink it, the better it will be for you – but it will still be good for you the next day 🙂

    Otherwise you can make a smaller batch!! x

    I love green smoothies. The one i had this morning:

    1 cup almond milk
    1 cup spinach
    1 small banana
    1 tbs vanilla protein powder
    1 tbs LSA
    1 tbs almond coconut butter
    1 fresh date

    delicious 🙂

    yay, more green smoothie love! my recipes are much more similar to kav’s for the sweetness. I haven’t been game yet to try avocado in my smoothies, but have had success with pear/carrot/apple/ginger/mint juices.

    Annette i use the Pure Harvest almond milk (carton). I buy it from Coles though because it’s so much cheaper. Usually around $5 as opposed to $8/9 at some health food stores!

    Avocado gives the smoothie a great creamy consistency (milkshake like). I usually add about 1/3 of an avocado and 1 tbs cacao powder to my chocolate smoothies 🙂

    I keep meaning to try that almond milk – and avocado mixed with cacao sounds great. I’ve heard it works when making vegan brownies/pudding so I’ll def give it a go!

    Hi Ladies,

    Just reading re green smoothies I luv all of the ingredients mentioned and at the mo don’t drink any smoothies as yet until now.

    I used to have the protein skaes way back when I was a kinda gyn junkie doing body building, did I say back in the 1990’s?? wow that was a long time ago..geez…oops

    I also haven’t as yet come across almond milk..will keep my eyes peeled for this product instores.

    Will definitely have to change my diet now to include green smoothies in it from now on.
