Flow From the Heart Yoga Event Review!

Good Friday in Kings Park, amongst the picnicing families and children hyped up on chocolate, was the location for the first of two Flow Yoga events hosted by Stuart Watkins – yogi extraordinaire – to raise money for the charity Africare.

About 50 people turned up to support the cause by taking part in THREE HOURS (!!!!) of yoga, meditation, dancing and heart-opening.

The array of delicious and nourishing treats available on the day was fantastic. Organic juices from Found, vegan raw food bites from Raw Rev, Goji berries & cacao nibs from Loving Earth, water from Antipodes and an amazing raw cheesecake from The Raw Kitchen to finish things up!! Not to mention some home made coconut bliss balls.

♥ RAW MAPLE, CINNAMON AND APPLE CHEESCAKE! ♥

Here is a video from the day that’s just surfaced too! Brings back nice memories 🙂

The event was beautiful, some Wellness WA readers and writers came down and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I highly recommend everyone attend the second one, details can be found here!

Be well,

Annette

Big Day Out Gets LUSH!

Yours truly isn’t the biggest fan of music festivals, despite being a huge fan of music, the crowds, the craziness, the dirt, the heat and the standing for hours on end between bands you don’t-actually-want-to-see all leave me a grumpy mess about an hour in. But when you get to watch the band you came to see, then oh is it worth it.

I’ve long wished there was a way to make the bits I don’t like about festivals disappear… maybe get a massage or facial in between bands? A bit of a spruce up? Well kids this year Big Day Out goers are in luck because they’ve teamed up with the sweet smelling sugar doves at Lush and gone and made this happen!!!

Think free face masks, massages, cool-down treatments and even bottles of their earthy smelling “Grass” shower gel for the washrooms. Pretty good. Even better is that these pamper sessions are FREE!!

So in between rocking out, jive on down (wrong era?) to the LUSH tent to chill out and get a little wellness into you while waiting for your fave band to play!

Check out www.bigdayout.com for more info on the event and let us know if you’re keen to check to get some festival style pampering!

Annette

Cruelty Free Festival Perth 2011 – Earthwise Community Centre, Subiaco.

Animal Rights Advocates (ARA) is hosting the second annual Perth Cruelty Free Festival on Saturday, November 5th, from 10am till 4pm. The event will be held at Earthwise Community Centre, located at 315 Bagot Road, Subiaco. Entry is free and animal companions are welcome!

Last year’s inaugural Cruelty Free Festival was an extremely successful day. Wellness WA (that’s us!!!) reviewed the event and described it as ‘a lovely way to spend an afternoon’ and ‘a fantastic new event.’ We also got really positive feedback from stallholders and attendees. We’re making this year’s festival even better by extending the event to incorporate more performances, demonstrations and talks throughout the day, as well as including an even greater variety of delicious food and interesting stalls.

As the festival coincides with World Vegan Day (November 1st), it will be focussed on promoting a cruelty free lifestyle. There will be vegan cooking demonstrations, a special area for children and inquisitive parents to discuss raising vegan kids, and animal-rights themed movie screenings, talks and stalls.

ARA sees cruelty free living as part of a broader struggle for justice for all – humans and other animals. The festival will therefore have an overall social justice theme, with stalls promoting social justice causes such as human rights and environmental sustainability.

While there will be heaps of information, there will also be lots of entertainment! We will have musicians and other performers continuously entertaining people throughout the entire day, kid’s activities including face painting and crafting, a vegan barbecue with freshly made sausages and plenty of other opportunities to relax and enjoy yourself at the festival.
It’s shaping up to be another great event and we’d love to see you there!

For more information, visit the festival website, which also has links to the Facebook page and Twitter account for the event!

Hope to see some of you down there!

Be well,

Annette
