Beauty & Wellbeing Routine: Pippa McManus, Fashion Illustrator.

♥ – photo by Cheyne Tillier-Daly

First up, briefly tell us a little bit about yourself!

I am a professional fashion illustrator. I studied Fine Arts for two years then Fashion and Textile Design for three, both at the Western Australian School of Art and Design. I have illustrated for Linney’s, Chatswood Chase, Aurellio Costarella, ELLERY, Joveeba and Urban Walkabout with lots of exciting things coming up this year.

Tell us about your daily beauty routine.

I recently had the chance to try a soon-to-be released skin care brand called Ni6 (Ed: Can’t find a website up as yet…!). So I use their cleanser and female specific moisturizer now daily and have never had better skin.

♥ What’s the one beauty treatment you can’t live without? And your favourite place to have it done?

I go to see Esther at Esther CE (cultured eyebrows) every 5 weeks to get my brows pampered. I have a strong cowlick in one and a scar running through the other and Esther has done wonders, I now look human! I have to brush them everyday with her specially developed brush so I guess that is part of my every day routine too.

Who do you trust with your hair in Perth, and why?

Head Studio on King St! It’s such a great experience each time I go, a beautiful and relaxing environment. I also love the illustrations they have on their walls by one of my favorite Aussie illustrators Rebecca Wetzler.

Favourite budget / at home beauty treatment?

Pedicures in the sun in the backyard! I work in a shoe shop on the weekend so it a good idea to have nice feet to show off the shoes. I do a foot scrub, a cuticle clean and then a paint and polish.

Your three, absolutely cannot live without, favourite products?

1. Clinique High Impact Mascara, so I don’t scratch my eyes out – Available from StrawberryNET for $23 AUD!
2. David Jones brand Vitamin E Creamy Cleanser, super gentle
3. Benefit Brow Zings Brow Shaping Kit, to tame my crazy brows

Do you have any secret tips you use to keep looking / feeling great?

Water water water! Clears my skin, cleanses my body and is my instant headache cure. I drink over 2 liters a day. No product will ever have the same benefits as water.

What beauty treatment/ wellbeing activity would you love to try but haven’t yet? (Due to time, money, scared etc!)

I would love to have bright pink hair! Charlotte Free is my favorite model of the season and she has the best fluro colour hair. But I’m not sure I would take the plunge due to time/money/fear!

Describe a typical day of eating for you.

Yoghurt in the morning, salad for luch and a meat dish for dinner. I snack during the day and usually have something sitting next to me while I’m drawing which kind of limits the food to portability and non-drippyness (so my work doesn’t get ruined!). My boyfriend is a wonderful cook so I always eat well!

Describe your fitness routine.

I swim about 2km 5 days a week at the local pool. I love it! It’s the only type of exercise I enjoy. I do special sets written out for me by a good friend who also happens to be one of the coaches for the Australian Olympic Swimming Team.

Do you take part in any alternative therapies or take supplements? If so, discuss.

No but I was discussing with a friend today how we would like to try Iridology, the iris analysis treatment. That would be really interesting to me.

♥ Some of Pippa’s gorgeous artwork

How do you like to relax? What are your favourite ways to de-stress?

My favorite way to relax is with friends. I spend most of the day alone in my studio working so I really enjoy catching up with friends for a coffee or a drink out somewhere it’s an instant way to make me happy and reminds me that there is life outside my house!

Thanks so much to the lovely Pippa for stopping by for a chat! You can find out more about her work @ pippasworkablefixative.blogspot.com

Be well,

Beauty & Wellbeing Routine: Gabriella Sidhu, Perth Makeup Artist.

First up, briefly tell us a little bit about yourself!

I’m 26 years old and am a freelance makeup artist, you can check out my Facebook page at: http://www.facebook.com/GabriellaSidhuMakeUp and am also in my 3rd year of studying architecture at UWA. I love being creative!

Gabi at work

I have an amazing fiance and 2 gorgeous cats who act more like people! I have a pretty mixed background. I was born in Malaysia to an Irish mum (who spent a lot of her childhood in Kuwait) and an Indian/English Dad. We moved to Australia when I was 9.

Tell us about your daily beauty routine. (please include specifics about brands/products used)

It changes all the time but at the moment I am using:

1. MOKOSH Face Cleansing Powder (amazing Fremantle- based brand which is organic and fair trade) followed by
2. Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist
3. Clarins Hydraquench Cooling Cream-Gel. (I use this in Summer and in Winter change to a thicker moisturiser)

What’s the one beauty treatment you can’t live without? And your favourite place to have it done?

I have an auto-immune disease called Lupus which prevents me from staying out in the sun for more than 5 minutes at a time (if I do I get dizzy, sick, nauseous and fatigued) so I tend to get spray-tans quite a bit! I go to Beaute in Paris in Gwelup.

Who do you trust with your hair in Perth, and why?

My amazing hairdresser Sharon who now works from home and whom I’ve been seeing since I was 19. She is just amazing at hair and is so intuitive. My mum, sister, fiance, brother-in-law, 3 good friends, good friend’s mother and sister-in-law ALL go to her. I’m too selfish to give out her details because she is so busy already!!

Favourite budget / at home beauty treatment?

After going to Beauty College this summer, I now give myself manicures and pedicures which saves so much! I always make sure I take time out to do them and include a mask, exfoliation scrub and moisturiser. If anyone would like a mani or pedi I also do appointments so feel free to contact me!

Moroccan Oil – RRP $49.50

Your three, absolutely cannot live without, favourite products?

1. The first one is actually a perfume! The Eau de Parfum by Narciso Rodriguez (Available from StrawberryNET for cheaps!). I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve purchased this!

2. St Tropez Bronzing Mousse and Face Tan (Can they count as one?). I’m not a tanorexic I promise, I just like to have a bit of colour. If anyone would like any hints for applying self tan:

♥ Wear gloves (I buy the bulk latex ones from the chemist)
♥ Make sure to exfoliate beforehand and don’t shave your legs (if you do) until AFTER you’ve applied the fake tan – for example the next morning. That way the tan doesn’t get into the hair follicle and you don’t have that “dotty” leg look!

3. Lastly, Moroccan Oil for my hair. I apply it to the tips everytime I wash my hair and it really does wonders for dryness and split ends.

Do you have any secret tips you use to keep looking / feeling great?

Fake tan? Haha, I’m kidding!
They’re not really secret but drinking loads of water really does make you feel wonderful and your skin glows!
Getting regular massages also not only leaves you feeling amazing and relaxed but your skin looks great afterwards due to the increased circulation. I always get one where they use oils and try to leave the oil on for as long as possible afterwards so it soaks in and leaves the skin feeling moisturised and soft.

What beauty treatment/ wellbeing activity would you love to try but haven’t yet? (Due to time, money, scared etc!)

I’ve ALWAYS wanted to go on a spa weekend! The kind where you have every type of beauty treatment imaginable, eat only clean, fresh, detoxing food and spend it with great friends.

Describe a typical day of eating for you.

It is about to change as I have just started an Ayurvedic diet but it is normally:

Breakfast: Swiss muesli with greek yoghurt, berries, honey and sprinkled with cinnamon. I drink a tall glass of water with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar added in the mornings. Sounds disgusting but you get used to it!

Lunch: Generally a sandwich with a protein either chicken or fish and veggies.

Afternoon Snack: A smoothie – either a green smoothie or if I’m feeling like something heavier I will use banana, almond milk, oats, honey, cinnamon, ginger or along those lines.

Dinner: Usually an asian meal like a stir-fry or a curry/dahl.

I also tend to have something sweet after dinner like chocolate. I have such a sweet tooth!

I finish my night off with a calming cup of chamomile tea which is the only tea/coffee I drink throughout the day I’ve just realised!

Describe your fitness routine.

I don’t have a specific routine but again due to my Lupus I have to take it quite easy as my joints are quite arthritic. I stick to low-impact stuff like yoga, walking, cycling and swimming. I just need to make sure I do some everyday.

Do you take part in any alternative therapies or take supplements? If so, discuss.

As mentioned I’ve just started seeing an Ayurvedic practitioner so have been given some herbal concoctions to drink and oils to use externally so I can’t comment on how they work just yet! Up till now I have been taking Fish Oil and Glucosamine everyday (but have learnt that flaxseed oil would be a much better alternative for me), iron supplements, apple cider vinegar and valerian root, which helps allow you to have a good nights sleep.

How do you like to relax? What are your favourite ways to de-stress?

Definitely a massage! Spending time with my fiance and cats also de-stresses me. I think being around people you love helps so much.

Thanks to Gabriella for taking the time to share her beauty & wellness routine with us! You can find her makeup services on Facebook!

Be well,

xoxo

Beauty & Wellbeing Routine: Evelyn Leckie, Perth Model.

First up, briefly tell us a little bit about yourself!

I’m a full time University student and a part-time model in Perth. I’m more than halfway through my degree in Communications at UWA. My favorite thing to do is travel, I’ve worked as a model overseas since I graduated from high school, and there’s nothing more pleasing then immersing yourself in an entirely foreign culture.

Tell us about your daily beauty routine.

My daily routine is really simple, just cleanse and moisturize as well as apply sunscreen.

What’s the one beauty treatment you can’t live without? And your favourite place to have it done?

I have to admit, I’ve never had a beauty treatment done before professionally! I will one day, but for now its just home based treatments, or getting your most patient friend to do your nails for you.

Who do you trust with your hair in Perth, and why?

Aveda Salon in Subiaco are a really reliable salon. I trust them with my hair, they have a really professional team and they use all natural, environmentally friendly products.

Favourite budget / at home beauty treatment?

Oat meal and sugar scrub!

Your three, absolutely cannot live without, favourite products?

Estèe Lauder crème SPF15
Estèe Lauder Youth-Infusing Hydration Lotion
YSL Mascara.

Do you have any secret tips you use to keep looking / feeling great?

The best tip, although it may not exactly be a secret, is sunscreen, that’s probably the most essential key in taking care of your skin, and to keep yourself looking young.

What beauty treatment/ wellbeing activity would you love to try but haven’t yet? (Due to time, money, scared etc!)

I would like to try Bikram Yoga in Perth one time, it looks so challenging and I want to see if I can get through that 90 minute workout.

Describe a typical day of eating for you.

A big breakfast, normally mixed cereals with fruit, yoghurt and honey. For lunch a healthy sandwich or a big salad with protein. For dinner it changes every night, but I try to have a light dinner (so I can make room for dessert.)

Describe your fitness routine.

My fitness routine is very basic, I take my dog for a walk at the beach nearly everyday, or if I haven’t been active all day, I like to go out with my friends to dance.

Do you take part in any alternative therapies or take supplements? If so, discuss.

Not really, I believe I get enough nutrients and vitamins from the foods I eat, but when my immune system is low I take BioC vitamin C tablets.

How do you like to relax? What are your favourite ways to de-stress?

Yoga is my favourite way to relax. It’s amazing how yoga can effect my mood, I could be in a really bad mood, and a yoga class can completely turn my mood around.

Thanks to the gorgeous Evelyn for taking the time to share her beauty and wellness routine with us!

Be well,

xoxo

Beauty & Wellbeing Routine: Haley Thompson, Peachy Clean Organic Beauty / STM Social Writer.

First up, briefly tell us a little bit about yourself!

Well hello! My name is Haley but I get called Peachy-my nanna was called Pinky as she only ever wore Pink…not just any pink ‘HOT’ Pink! From head to toe! She knew what she loved and so do I. I’m a total nerd for organic skincare! Give me a Friday night researching the effects of things like bromonitrodioxane and diethanolamine and I’m one content little peach! I’m one of those annoying people who won’t let you pull a tube of Lucas Paw Paw ointment out of your pocket without giving you a 15 minute speech on why it’s so toxic- I’ll then make you buy an organic replacement before I let you out of my sight (here’s one we reviewed earlier – Ed.)…I’m also one of those people you call 2 days later saying “thank god you converted me to natural products-I look and feel so much better” ha!

I’ve been a Television Presenter, Radio Announcer, Columnist and MC for the last 10 years so I’ve used a lot of products in that time. I can honestly say that since learning about and switching to natural products-my skin has never been so clear, hydrated and smooth. My passion is my new business Peachy Clean Organic Beauty Boutique! I have personally tried every single product on the site and only sell the brands I find really luxurious and effective!

Tell us about your daily beauty routine.

My daily beauty routine is a total treat! I’m lucky I get to wake when the sun is peeping through the trees (and not to some loud beeping-although I do occasionally wake to some loud snoring thanks to my boyfriend!) I believe a good nights sleep and plenty of water are two of the best beauty treatments you can get-but who really ever gets enough of either?

That’s where good skin care comes in. In the morning I use the Vanessa Megan Organic Rose Spray to freshen up and throughout the day I can’t live without my Savi Organic Pomegranate and Passionflower face mist (you can’t get too much of a good thing and a beautiful face mist is definitely a good thing!).

In the shower I love the Weleda Sea Buckthorn Creamy Body Wash (It feels like whipped cream and leaves your skin so silky), Vanessa Megan Love Scrub (with rose and lavender petals um-mar it’s good!) usually followed by my Sodashi face care routine of-Rejuvenating Concentrate, Clay Cleanser with Lavender (just the best clay cleanser available!), Calming Rose Face Mist (yes-more mist!), Rejuvenating Face and Neck Moisturiser and either Sodashi Vanilla Body Butter or Vanessa Megan Peruvian Flower Body Moisturiser. My skin care is so natural that if I ever got stranded on an island I could eat it!

What’s the one beauty treatment you can’t live without? And your favourite place to have it done?

My favourite beauty treatment is an all over exfoliation with just 3 drops of Sodashi Rejuvenating Concentrate. Just a little of this liquid gem goes a long way and after using it on my face, I use the rest of the mixture to exfoliate from head to toe (using my Dr Hauschka Organic Cotton Compress)-it’s the only product that is as gentle on your face as it is tough on dry legs and heels! Seriously-it’s a miracle treatment that takes place right in my own bathroom. You should wear a cape and wave a little wand while using it (a ‘Ta-Da!’ is optional but always encouraged).

Who do you trust with your hair in Perth, and why?

For years I have searched and spent outrageous amounts of money on fancy hair salons with big advertising campaigns and now I’m finally satisfied! One of my best friends is Natasha Walker-an amazing at home hairdresser and getting my hair done is now fun. A good chat and then whip your hair over the laundry sink before driving home with your head hanging out the car window like a pampered puppy! She listens and has saved me a small fortune too!

Favourite budget / at home beauty treatment?

The best and cheapest beauty treatment is so simple. Be grateful, be loving and be kind. Flip everything on it’s head and be positive. The most beautiful people in the world are happy people. Corny-but so true! Be as healthy as you can but also realise you can’t do everything right all the time-switching to natural skin care is an effortless way to make sure you’re doing something healthy for your body everyday.

Your three, absolutely cannot live without, favourite products?

Just three?? I’m a total product addict-you should see my bathroom cabinet and bedside table! I can’t live without my Savi Pomegranate and Passionflower face mist (I keep it in the fridge on hot days), Sodashi rejuvenating concentrate and the certified organic Eco Tan fake tan-it doesn’t smell or stain and contains chocolate as an ingredient! It gives the most amazing bronze colour. (My 4th would be a beautiful Floriosa soy candle burning in the living room-my fave is the Blackcurrant, Rose Petal and Nectarine-that’s one helluva candle! I have one burning right now!).

Do you have any secret tips you use to keep looking / feeling great?

Definitely! I only use ALL-natural products. The preservatives in most ‘commercial’ skin care actively dry your skin out and cause fine lines and skin irritations. Ever used a lip balm only to feel like you need to keep applying? It’s the parabens (preservative) that dry your lips out! When your lips are so dry, the feeling of putting the balm on your lips makes you feel like it’s working when it’s actually what’s causing the problem! It’s such a mean cycle-and it’s the same in most moisturisers and cleansers. Natural products are the only way to treat the largest organ of your body (your skin) if you want genuine long lasting results. The medicinal Organic Soothing Cream has done wonders to reverse skin irritations caused by sub-par products on many friends! If you have dry or itchy skin problems I recommend it.

What beauty treatment/ wellbeing activity would you love to try but haven’t yet? (Due to time, money, scared etc!)

I would love to go on a retreat for a few days. Massages, good food, peace and more massages! They get so pricey though! Using luxury products, even just a nice hand cream or room spray is how I bring the day spa to me! It’s important to treat yourself!

Describe a typical day of eating for you.

I’m terrible in the mornings-before I notice it’s 1pm and I haven’t had breakfast and then I usually have a massive meal at bedtime! It’s not a good habit so I’m currently sorting it out by having protein shakes with chia seeds and blueberries in the morning, a bigger lunch and then eating lots of fish and veggies for dinner. I naturally prefer healthy foods (nutritionist and cookbook author Janella Purcell is my kindred food spirit-I totally recommend her books – Janella Purcell’s Elixir: How to Use Food as Medicine
) but I don’t deny myself either! I love a fancy champagne and if you take cheese away from me I cry! You gotta enjoy yourself too 😉 (my ‘happy people are beautiful” comment earlier justifies me being naughty whenever I want ha ha!)

Describe your fitness routine.

My fitness routine is…a little on the whimsical and inconsistent side! I live near the beach so I go for a big walk along the coast daily or just as often as I can-it’s just so good for my heart and my head. I sing quite loudly and often skip and grin like an idiot the whole way. It’s great when you smile at someone, then they smile, then someone else smiles back-it’s contagious! It makes looking a bit silly totally worth it!

Do you take part in any alternative therapies or take supplements? If so, discuss.

I try to use food as medicine (my fave nutritionist Janella Purcell has an amazing book called ‘Elixer‘ about this). Your body responds so well to nature! I try to enjoy as many superfoods as I can every day! I do love to get regular massages-I take my own Savi Organic Wellbeing Massage Oil with me to ensure I get a natural treatment-even the masseuse now buys it to use on other clients!

How do you like to relax? What are your favourite ways to de-stress?

A head to toe beauty treat using products that I know are good for me and smell like heaven in a jar relaxes me every time! I also love to cook and potter in the veggie patch! My boyfriend and I treat ourselves to some fun when we can too-camping in Esperance or a sunset with some oysters and bubbly never fails to re-boot the system and remind you that little worries are never as important as being loved, being healthy and having a giggle!

Thanks to Haley for taking time out of her super busy schedule to have a chat with us and share her deliciously natural routine! 🙂

Be well,

xoxo

Beauty & Wellbeing Routine: Jade Jurewicz, Wellness WA Contributor.

First up, briefly tell us a little bit about yourself!

I’m Jade, my life is currently a jumble of PR and journalism assignments, audio book downloading, Tutti Frutti frozen yogurt obsessing, planning to start planning my wedding, reading some very serious literature (which could also be defined as chick lit) lusting over the bikini’s whilst working in Tigerlily and writing for Wellness WA!

The most amazing place in Leederville (Perhaps all of Perth!)

Tell us about your daily beauty routine.

I feel as though I was born without the make-up and beauty obsession that seems to be present in most women’s genes! My daily beauty routine is simple and I stick to a product once I find it works for me. I use Kora Organics face products, tinted moisturizer for the day as I rarely wear foundation and a thicker night cream before bed. Morning and night I apply Bio Oil to the small pimple scars on my face (it’s been a life saver following my small unwelcome stint of adult pimples last year!) and Rosehip oil has recently joined by beauty routine, it’s been fantastic so far.

Morning and night after my shower I lather myself in Natio ‘Wellness’ Body Lotion as it smells delicious, just like summer! Make-up wise I have a very simple routine; on top of my Kora tinted moisturizer I apply bronzer and mascara, Paw Paw on the lips during the day and for special occasions I love my Nars velvet matte lip pencil in Cruella, such a lush red (beware it is not boyfriend friendly, they should not be expecting any kisses after application!).

What’s the one beauty treatment you can’t live without? And your favourite place to have it done?

Again, my lack of beauty obsession genes must be noted! However I get my waxing done by Alexandra at Vanilla Beauty in Highgate; our constant gossiping almost takes most of the pain out of waxing. Other than that I love ‘Jade time’ which can only be described as a few wonderful (and necessary) hours spent catching up on all of the girly things I’ve put off whilst writing essays and drinking too much coffee; at home hair treatments, face masks, nail painting, eyebrow plucking…. this list could go on for quite awhile!

Who do you trust with your hair in Perth, and why?

Unfortunately I’ve never had a hairdresser I’ve adored enough to stick with. After impulsively dying my hair black as a teenager it’s remained that similar shade until a hair dressing friend did an amazing balayage dye on it. I’m excited to have this color for summer, wearing it messy and ‘I just came back from the beach’ like (even on the sad days I can’t make it down for a dip).

Favourite budget / at home beauty treatment?

Basically any product used during Jade Time. Most purchased at that illusive place where you discover you basically need everything on every shelf and spend far too much money- Priceline. I recommend a thick and nourishing hair treatment once a week, like the Pantene one I’m currently using, to leave in for a good hour whilst drinking red wine and watching Kids Masterchef (or your reality T.V of choice) to make your hair feel super smooth and healthy. Also this may sound rather odd (but it works I promise!) lather your feet in a thick moisturizer or body butter then wrap them in glad wrap and pop some socks on for around 15 minutes. It leaves your feet feeling soft and lets them know you appreciate them for holding you up all night in your new coral wedges!

Your three, absolutely cannot live without, favourite products?

They would have to be Bio Oil, Kora tinted moisturizer and Rosehip Oil.

Do you have any secret tips you use to keep looking / feeling great?

I’ve found balance is the best tip I could give for looking and feeling great! I discovered over my 23 years that this is the case with most aspects of my life, without balance there is that little, annoying feeling that something isn’t quite right! It’s an ongoing process to find that perfect balance between right and wrong, work and social life and the most important………. how many pieces of chocolate should be devoured on a Sunday night?

♥ Dark chocolate and raspberry cupcake at Mrs S in Maylands, delicious.

What beauty treatment/ wellbeing activity would you love to try but haven’t yet? (Due to time, money, scared etc!)

I would love to go on a yoga retreat, such as one that Samudra in Dunsborough offers, I can’t begin to imagine how relaxed a few days of yoga, eating amazing fresh food and being in the fresh air would feel! I would also love to be treated to a full day at a lush day spa, no expenses spared. These however can only be achieved in the near future if I win lotto. In the meantime I’ve been meaning to try pilates and bikram yoga (I’ve been too lazy/scared to try both!).

♥ One of my favourite café’s

Describe a typical day of eating for you.

I try to maintain a healthy and balanced diet, making room for necessary treat’s of course. I have an unhealthy obsession with porridge and muesli, I’m literally excited to wake up every morning to eat a big bowl of one of the two! I’ve been on the search for Perth’s best muesli for a while now, so far Boucla in Subiaco is winning. Most mornings I have porridge cooked on the stove with cinnamon, pear, sunflower seeds and honey. Throughout the morning 1 or 2 coffee’s is a must and some almonds or fruit. For lunch it’s usually a chicken salad or wrap and more nuts, fruit or muesli bar in the afternoon. Dinner can be an array of things!

♥ Bircher muesli on a recent trip to Melbourne.

My staple dinner ingredients consist of avocado, lentils, pumpkin, chicken, quinoa or Israeli cous cous, coriander or basil and I love rice noodles (not all together of course!). I love cooking and my favourite meals to cook at the moment would be chicken tagine’s with chickpeas and cous cous, fish or chicken with lots of mango salsa, big pots of dahl with roasted veggies or tasty summer salads. On lazy nights my partner and I have take away Japanese or one of the delicious ready-made meals from the Herdsman. I also love to go to the Subiaco farmers market on the weekend and browse the stalls with my little cup of bircher muesli or try new Perth café’s. On the ‘treat’ side I love frozen yogurt or icecream, dark chocolate, Flipside burgers or anything smothered in honey (or even honey on a teaspoon!).

♥ My friend and I stretching for the City to Surf

Describe your fitness routine.

Being a poor uni student a gym membership unfortunately doesn’t make it into my budget. However I am a huge fan of walking for both fitness and to avoid public transport. I walk home around 3 days a week from work, the 40 minute journey becomes even more of a work-out whilst wearing my small-heeled Tony Bianco boots! Walking dates with friends is always a nice way to spend time catching up, especially when frozen yogurt is waiting at the end. I jog around a park near my house then power walk to Mooba to get coffee around 3 mornings a week too. After my first beach visit in forever last week I’ve also been inspired to start yoga or pilates class, starting next week I promise!

Do you take part in any alternative therapies or take supplements? If so, discuss.

Once upon a time I spent days googling vitamins in hope to find that miracle supplement that would leave me feeling like I’d just finished a yoga class then snacked on a fresh, organic salad filled with every possible super food known to man. However after purchasing a mixture of vitamins in which I thought would offer me this utopia feeling, after 2 weeks I began to forget taking them and after a month they were pushed to the back of my bathroom cabinet (I am yet to discover the miracle supplement).

How do you like to relax? What are your favourite ways to de-stress?

I’m lucky in that my partner is one of the most relaxed people I’ve ever met, so I’m hoping that a little bit of his talent has rubbed off on me (although X-Box is not my idea of relaxation). I enjoy taking relaxing walks to get coffee at Louie Baxter’s or smoothies at the Subiaco weekend markets (with extra honey!), reading a book or lying down on the couch and watching whatever series I’m currently addicted to. I also enjoy writing for myself when I can, without deadlines or expectations. For the past few years I’ve been trying to write a novel however don’t expect to see it on shelves anytime soon, I’m still only 20 pages in! I’ve also found it beneficial to keep a positive outlook on life, taking a few spare minutes each day to take a few deep breaths and put things in perspective- this is very necessary during the last weeks of the uni semester believe me!

Thanks Jade! We love having you as a writer @ Wellness WA. Read more of Jade’s articles here!

Be well,

xoxo
