♥ First up, briefly tell us a little bit about yourself!
I absolutely love what I get to do each day. Helping people live to their fullest potential is something that brings me so much joy. As well as my line of work I love surfing, the outdoors, travel, photography and live music.
Over the summer I am teaching Akhanda Yoga at various outdoor locations. They are donation based classes so you can pay as little or as much as you like per class. It’s all about getting back to nature and letting your true nature shine.
♥ Tell us about your daily beauty routine.
Hmmm, very simple routine. Beauty starts from the inside so I just make sure I’m eating a nice natural, organic diet. Lots of greens, lots of omega oils and plenty of variety in the diet. As well as that I make sure I’m hydrated, more so for my energy, but it helps to keep the skin stay healthy too. When the inner body is in harmony and the mind is relaxed our natural beauty shines.
♥ What’s the one beauty treatment you can’t live without? And your favourite place to have it done?
I don’t really get beauty treatments done, but I do get regular ayurvedic massages at K.A.L.M Wellness Centre with Kate Morris.
♥ Who do you trust with your hair in Perth, and why?
Angelina at Guy’s Grooming in the city. In the past, every time I’d get my hair cut it would take about a week or 2 for my hair to look ok. After Angelina cuts my hair I’m happy with it straight away. She gives an amazing head massage too.
Navratna Oil
♥ Favourite budget / at home beauty treatment?
Pranayama or yogic breath work and meditation. Everyone after practicing breath work in yoga and meditation just glows incredibly. The eyes are clearer, the skin glows and this inner peace just shines from the person. Occasionally I’ll do a bit of a face and body scrub using ground up flaxseeds with a bit of water. After washing that off with cool water I massage Navratna Oil into any muscles that feel like they need some love.
♥ Your three, absolutely cannot live without, favourite products?
I don’t really use any external products apart from what I just mentioned.
I always make sure I have CHYAWANPRASH at home. It’s an ancient Indian herbal tonic that’s loaded with vitamin C.
I always make sure I have Vitamin C food complex, B food complex, magnesium and Vitamin E from an amazing brand called New Chapter.
Young baby coconuts!
♥ Do you have any secret tips you use to keep looking / feeling great?
Coconut water every day. Fresh from a young coconut. So healing, energising and hydrating.
♥ What beauty treatment/ wellbeing activity would you love to try but haven’t yet? (Due to time, money, scared etc!)
Everything I have been curious about trying I’ve already tried. I’m willing to give anything a go, if it makes sense to me.
♥ Describe a typical day of eating for you.
I eat lots of raw foods throughout the day. I have about 5-6 meals spread throughout the day. Lots of fruits, vegetables and nuts. Lunch is usually my biggest meal. Each day of eating varies depending on how much energy I’m using, so I just listen to my body and give it the natural fuel that it needs.

♥ Describe your fitness routine.
I usually cycle to and from work and if I’m in different locations throughout the day I can end up cycling quite a bit. I love cycling around Perth! I practice yoga for an hour to an hour and half 6 days a week. I also do strength and conditioning twice a week as well as surfing whenever possible and catching up with friends to play different sports.
♥ Do you take part in any alternative therapies or take supplements? If so, discuss.
Yes, I do regular chakra meditation, and get regular ayurvedic massages. I sometimes get reflexology and flower essence massages too. I take a quite a few supplements. Here they are; Yellow pea protein, cell food, the vitamins I listed above from New Chapter, Chywanprash, spirulina, maca, ashwaganda, triphala, Udo’s Oil and chia seed.

If the idea of doing yoga in a natural setting, be it in a park or by the ocean, takes you to your happy place then you’ll want to get involved with this.
Holistic personal trainer / nutritionist / meditation & yoga practitioner Stuart Watkins will be running classes in Kings Park, Cott and City Beach throughout the 2010-2011 Summer!
I’ve recently had a personal meditation / yoga sesh with Stuart (more on that to come later) and can vouch for his knowledge, calming voice & positive / healing vibes that seem to emanate from him in droves.
Make sure you get in touch with him by the listed methods to ensure a spot. The classes are by donation, so you pay what you feel, which is a really harmonious way of doing things.
Namaste!
Be well,
Annette

If you’re anything like my housemate and I, you’ve been singing ridiculous Christmas songs about sleighs, Winter wonderlands, hanging out by the fire & snowmen for days now.
Unfortunately this translates pretty terribly to our current climate (gonna be 34 today, sunny and humid) BLEH!
In light of that I’ve been busting out some Rolf Harris – Six White Boomers with equally alarming regularity.
“six white boomers
snow white boomers
racing santa claus through the blazing sun
six white boomers
snow white boomers
on his Australian run”
But I digress! Merry Christmas everyone, thank you for making this year absolutely amazing, we couldn’t have done it without you.
In 2011 we’re going to continue testing out exercise classes, day spas, beauty products, wellbeing tips, hairdressers and anything else you can think of that’s going to make you look and feel great in Perth.
As well as bringing a whole lot of new competitions and ways to get involved!
We hope you’ve enjoyed the journey, and would like to present to you the final Wellness Links of the year! x

Ze lovely Sarah Devlin!
A little over a month ago I started on my journey to fitness once and for all, by enlisting the help of the lovely Sarah to help me navigate the jungle known as “Doing More Exercise Than Just Walking to the Bus Stop Each Day“.
It was an unknown world to me, full of strange creatures such as the wild lunge squat, the dreaded tricep dip, which tend to travel in packs of ten…(at this stage, I hear they get more prevalent the further into the jungle we go), the gentle plie (plee-yay) and the common press up. There are also some ultra rare beasts known as ‘rest periods’, but we haven’t seen too many of those during our travels.
So what have I learned so far on my trip? Here are a few of my discoveries.
♥ I am capable of so, so, SO much more than I ever thought possible. Despite being in the early stages of training, I had very low expectations of how much exercise my body could cope with. The great thing about this style of training is that we work on so many different areas (eg. not just cardio, although there is some) that most muscle groups are nicely exhausted by the end of the session.
♥ I was scared at first. In the past I’ve heard of trainers who make you work out until you can’t see / throw up / emotionally break down. My training sessions are not like this! By no means will Sarah let me slack off, but she’s not there to make me cry or be sick.
♥ My bum, thighs & tummy are getting tighter and stronger all the time. How do I know this? Well first up it’s the aches and pains that come the day / two days after training!! This has got to be the worst part, but I’m told it will get better in time. It just means I’m working muscles that have been taking it easy for WAY too long!!
Secondly, I can visibly see / feel that these areas are getting firmer and it’s such a great feeling. As a reminder, I’m pretty small already and not trying to lose weight, but I’m very happy to be getting firmer and more toned as that was my goal đ
♥ Better posture – as you can imagine, running a website requires a fair bit of computer time. My ‘real job’ also involves a hefty amount of staring at screens also, so partially rounded shoulders tend to come with the territory.
We’ve been working on my posture, strengthening up the back / shoulder / chest muscles and even the work on the core helps too! I’ve definitely noticed an improvement which makes me super happy! My spine is beginning to ♥ me again.
So overall starting personal training is definitely one of the best things I’ve ever done for my health & wellbeing and I’m only just beginning to see the results.
I can’t wait to see what happens as I continue with it!
If you want to find out more about Sarah see her website!
Tell me your personal training stories of joy / woe!
Be well,
Annette

Everyday Zinc 30+ 50ml rrp $49
I recently met a woman who was in her early 40s, who had the skin of a 25 year old â smooth complexion without a freckle or hardly a wrinkle on her. The woman, who lives in England, surprised me when she told me her secret.
âI never go in the sun, and when I do I use a 30+ sunscreenâ she said.
Feeling slightly cheated that I have lived in the Australian sun all my life, and at age 30 my skin is now showing the signs of this with slight wrinkles and a couple of sunspots, I jumped at the chance to try Ella Bacheâs Everyday 30+ Protection.
After cleansing your face, apply a small amount to your fingertips and work it to become smooth. With its thick formula, a little goes a long way â so you do get value for money.
Dab onto your face then blend in. I found I looked a little ghostly as it left a slightly white cast over my face, however about 10 minutes later it had absorbed. I did notice that less foundation was required â or could most likely be skipped as youâre left with a nice translucent glow. By the end of the day I hadnt noticed that my face appeared any oilier, as some suncreens can make that happen.
The only cons about this product is that the smell is slightly chemical, and if you donât shake the product before use you do get a bit of oil seeping out amongst the product (most likely from the lanolin content).
He’s coming for you!
Overall I would recommend this product to anyone seeking an everyday high sun protection. I imagine I would only use it on days when I know majority will be spent outdoors, and with summer upon us â thatâs more often!
Using Ella Bache Everyday 30+ Protection, I felt good knowing that I had an âinvisible shieldâ against the sun, without the oilyness you would get just using a sunscreen.
Everyday Zinc 30+ is available at all Ella Baché salons and David Jones stores nationally. For
