Wellness Recipe: A Simple, Energising Morning Smoothie!

Bonjour! I’ve recently become the happy owner of an iPhone, so you will be seeing a lot more piccies on Wellness WA which should make things much more colourful and visual. I hope you enjoy 🙂

I’ve had this smoothie the last two mornings and it’s definitely pepped me up and gotten the day off to a great start…

Magnificent Morning Smoothie!

♥ 1-2 x cup of chilled, filtered water
♥ 1 x frozen banana
♥ 1 x cup of frozen blueberries
♥ 1 x small (organic) apple
♥ 2 x cups of spinach
♥ 1 x tbsp Grants Liquid B Vitamins (love, love, love this stuff in helping to manage stress)
♥ 1 x tbsp Pepitas

Optional

♥ 2 x tsp pea protein powder

Whiz this all up for 1-2 minutes and you’ll have a vitamin packed, cooling breakfast treat that is sure to make your toast eating housemate jealous!

I like to add the protein powder to give a more sustained energy boost, and I’m trying to gain a little weight at the moment!

Tah dah! Final smoothie + messy bench top & gratuitous organic fruits and veggies for good measure.

What do you think of this smoothie recipe?

Let me know if you end up trying it 🙂

Be well,

Annette

Product Review: Soaps by Lavender Fields of Bridgetown.

A sensory escape and soooooooo easy!

I am going be totally honest from the get go – my life gets pretty crazy busy. Sometimes there is so much adrenalin kicking about it’s hard to wind down. That’s why the shower is my sanctuary. A place to gather my thoughts, take a few deep breaths and reflect upon the day. So when I do finally get there I want it to be a sensory experience and am especially choosy about my shower products. And boy have I found my thing!

This year at the Perth Royal Show I did my usual trick of eating my way through it, avoiding at all costs those scary rides opting for a more peaceful visit! I was delighted when I stumbled upon the stand for the Lavender Fields of Bridgetown. Breathe in, breathe out …..relax.

I started sniffing my way through their amazing array of soaps and knew I had found something special. It was a hard choice but I managed to decide on 6 to take home and sample. So incredibly aromatic and, dare I say, holistic. Even when I wasn’t using them my bathroom smelled divine. Just one whiff transported me to the land of relaxation in seconds.

Made with a blend of olive and essential oils they are luxurious and smell divine, lifting my spirits immediately! They are not at all greasy and last a really long time.

My favourites so far are the more traditional rose geranium and tea rose while I have to say my hands down favourite is Lemongrass. Amazing! Other delights are an Australian bush soap pack, peppermint, eucalyptus and rosemary combined (trying that one soon) and mandarin and clove. There is even a pet soap!

So delighted by my discovery I bulk ordered a whole stack as Christmas presents. Some things are too good to be a secret!

You can go on a road trip and visit them in Bridgetown however if like me you struggle to find time you can order online or give them a call. They will promptly put them in the post as tried and tested by me. Too easy!

Get on board boys and girls, bring your shower to life, I dare you!

Beauty & Wellbeing Crushes: Yogawoman + Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead.

I want to share with you two inspirational documentaries that I’ve had the pleasure of seeing in the past couple of weeks. I would recommend them to anyone who is interested in wellbeing and living a healthy lifestyle (that should be most of you!)

Yogawoman – The Film

This documentary follows the female journey of yoga throughout the world, and focuses on the ‘global good’ that yoga can foster. From cancer survivors, imprisoned women, those in poverty and those with a variety of health conditions, yoga can bring about the capacity for change and healing.

With an all star cast including Shiva Rea and Sean Corne, plus many other highly regarded practitioners, Yogawoman is a unique look at the practice that so many of us are a part of. Recommended to anyone interested in yoga! Available from the Yogawoman website.

Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead

Now here’s one I haven’t been able to stop raving about since watching it a week ago. Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead follows the 60-day juicing journey of soon-to-be-household-name Joe Cross. Starting out with obesity, a poor lifestyle and with chronic urticaria (persistant skin lesions), Joe decided to quit processed food altogether and only drink freshly pressed juice for 60 days while he drove across America, spreading the word about healing through green juice.

Not surprisingly his health increased exponentially, his lesions completely disappeared and he became fitter than ever before. All this while inspiring many others to make positive lifestyle choices as well.

Never fear though! You wont just be drinking juice for the rest of your life, it’s just a ‘Reboot’ to your system, afterwards you’ll be able to continue eating (hopefully healthy food!)

While I don’t need to lose weight, I’ve experienced amazing levels of wellbeing from green smoothies (little different to juice) and would heartily recommend anyone give either juicing or smoothies a go! Find out more about Joe Cross here!

Product Review: Benefit Watts Up Highlighter!

Beauty lovers confession time, if you rifled through the contents of my Harrods make-up bag you would emerge horrified.

Clinque foundation bottles with only the smallest dregs of thick liquid left, Natio blushes circa when I rocked pedal pushers (so at least 5 years ago I promise!), crushed powders two shades too light for my summer tan and mascaras which probably should find a new home in my bathroom bin. After too many disappointed raised eyebrows from my sister after asking to borrow a product, and too many jealous trips to her make-up bags overflowing with bronze Mac eyes-shadows, vibrant Nars lip crayons and “I-really-really-really-want it” Chanel mascara, I decided it was time to make a few investments.

For anyone who wants to update their make-up collection (whatever impressive or depressing state they may be in) I recommend adding Benefit Watts Up to your make-up family. I’ve always found it difficult to replicate the luminous ‘natural’ glow that the Miranda Kerrs or Lara  Bingles of Australia flaunt, I’ll either apply a clowns amount of blush or too little which leaves me looking like I just woke up from a nana nap. Now with a face several shades darker post Australia Day beach party, I’ve been finding it difficult to make anything highlight my face. Watt’s Up was the answer to my make-up bags’ prayers!

In a cute silver container (definitely no disappointed raised eyebrows here) Watt’s Up is a soft focus highlighter which you easily apply across your cheek or brow for a luminous sheen. With a cream-to-powder finish it can be worn by ladies whose faces change colour after seconds in the sun, to those who have the complexions of a vampire (which is very sexy right now!).

After applying then blending Watt’s Up in with the handy sponge (fingers also work better I found) I realised I could finally stop my journey to find the Kerr-esque glow. Like silk, you can glide the highlighter across your cheeks or over your eyelids to brighten your complexion in all the right places. For me personally I loved that it isn’t a highlighter which looks like a shimmering mess across your cheeks as many of it’s competitors do, instead it looks natural and understated. Watt’s Up has definitely become a welcome member of my make-up bag! So it looks as though I’ve finally made my first step to creating an impressive make-up collection. Next step; purchasing a Chanel mascara to keep it company!

♥ Voila, before and after shot.

What do you think? Do you like the look of the Benefit Watts Up? What is your favourite highlighter?
