Beauty & Wellbeing Crushes: Purple Kale, Dreamy Yoga Retreats, CNR Cafe & More!

♥ Beautiful Purple Kale!

Hola! So, how ’bout this weather we’ve been having? I’m a big rain fan – so long as I’m warmly tucked up inside, complete with dressing gown, socks and a cup ‘o herbal tea. Venturing out into it is another story.

These past few weeks I’ve been flu-stricken and in the final two weeks of my Public Relations course, as well as having taken on an internship at an agency 2 days a week. Needless to say things have been HECTIC and I haven’t been able to update as much as I’d like. That doesn’t mean we’ve been laying dormant though, we have SO many exciting things in the works… so as always, stay tuned, and check out the wonderful bits and pieces that have been rocking my little wellness world this week! Xo

Purple Kale

Pictured above is the cruciferous vegetable of my eye this week, the delightful purple kale. When I spied this beauty at The Boatshed Market in Cottesloe on the weekend, I could not contain my excitement! Granted, the whole trip to Boatshed was exciting as I’d never been there before and it is just AMAZINGLY well stocked with fresh produce. Pricier than your average store, but I feel like it’s worth it.

This violet vegetable has been on many adventures this week, being mixed into a smoothie one day, gently steamed the next and is about to be made into some delicious kale chips! A+++. Love me some alterna-kale.

CNR Cafe Vegan Breakfast

My new favourite. So many vegan, vegetarian and raw options at CNR that your mind just might explode! The vegan breakfast (above) is in-cred-ible, and it’s available til 3pm all week. Including Sundays. I will be doing a proper review of it shortly, but it is definitely one of my new faves to head to when I have some extra pennies in my pockets. The vegan brekky is $18, so not the cheapest morning eats in town, however it is insanely delicious and filling, features macadamia & pepper nut cheese, house made beans, toasted ciabatta, pan fried mushrooms and tomatoes, caramelised onions AND potato chippy things.

They also do a killer green smoothie, breakfast of vegan champions! Check them out.

Stuart Watkins’ Bali Yoga Retreat

If you’re looking for an incredibly inspiring yoga filled getaway, then look no further. Join Stuart Watkins for 7 days and 6 nights on the north-east coast of Bali at Villa-Boreh with daily yoga, sun drenched relaxation and an array of soul nurturing activities including jungle treks, secret waterfall visits, hot springs and dolphin hangouts! Vegetarian and vegan meals will nourish your body, yoga will nourish your spirit. Find our more details here!

What’s inspiring you this week? Please feel free to share with me and spread the crush-love!

Be well,

Annette

Event Review: Earth Hour Free Pilates Event with Renee Kendall!

The evening of Saturday 31st of March saw about 20 health and wellness lovers get together at Performance Pilates and Physiotherapy Centre in West Perth to celebrate Earth hour by swapping lights for hundreds of gorgeous candles (some from Peachy Clean), and getting stuck into an hour long pilates class instructed by Renee from RENZ Pilates. I’ll admit this is not the usual way I spend my Saturday evenings, but it was such a special night and it’s made me realise that I do love exercising when the sun has gone down. There’s just something special about it!

Renee had us stretching, toning, breathing and relaxing in varied and flowing pilates sequences. She is a great teacher, providing individual assistance to all participants and it was an incredibly enjoyable experience, I just knew my bum, legs, tum and arms were going to be sore the next day 🙂 Sure enough, for 2 days after the class I felt the sweet ache of exercise done well.

♥ A nice hip opener

Audrey (owner of Performance Pilates & Physiotherapy) & our lovely instructor Renee of RENZ Pilates!

Fancy pants advanced pilates moves after the class!

Hope you enjoyed reading about this fun and worthwhile event!

Wellness WA has plans to bring some reader events to you in the near future… would anyone be keen?

Be well,

Annette

KORA Organics Event: Miranda Kerr, Therese Kerr and Some Incredible Quinoa Curry!

A couple of weeks ago, Renee from RENZ Pilates and I went along to a KORA Organics event held in South Perth. Renee writes for the KORA blog, and I of course have a keen interest in any beauty, health or wellness happenings around town! The table setting that greeted us at the event, skincare goodies and Noni juice!

Noni shot, coconut water, regular water, organic champers!

Wise words from Miranda, this was a big theme of the evening.

The event started with us all toasting with a shot of Noni juice with Therese (Miranda’s mum)… it packs a strong antioxidant punch, but you can just tell it’s doing good things!

A big part of the evening was learning and testing out all the products from the range, as well as conducting our own facial. Here’s Ren with one of the yummy KORA masks.

Along with the drinks, skincare sampling and wise words from Therese Kerr, we were also fed. Dinner was an absolutely incredible quinoa and coconut curry, this picture really doesn’t do it justice – it was superb – and created by Miranda’s own chef Kate McAloon! I could have gladly eaten this meal 5 times a week, it was that good.

To top off the curry, we had a very special healthy dessert created for us! With oats, walnuts, raspberries, yoghurt and mint. This was also delish, and Kate created one with just milk specially for me as they weren’t sure if the yoghurt had gelatin in it (not vegetarian). So sweet of her!

Miranda’s Mum on the right, if you couldn’t guess!

I would completely recommend the KORA events to anyone who is interested in Miranda Kerr or organic skincare, you can find out more info on upcoming events on the KORA blog!

Would you liked to have gone? Let us know below!

Be well,

Annette
