Healthy Chocolate Review: Raw, Delicious, Organic Pana Chocolate. It’s cute too.

The first time I saw Pana Chocolate my heart did a flip. They say it’s what’s on the inside that counts, but a cute package never hurt anyone. And in this case the friendly looking critters, silver hearts and recycled packaging definitely convinced me to put down my bar of Cadbury chocolate and try this new treat.

I wasn’t disappointed. Upon opening the box the love just keeps on coming; what lies within is some sweet printed choccy wrapping paper (no boring silver foil here) and 6 squares of raw, organic, vegan chocolate heaven.

That’s right, this isn’t your average bar of chocolate. Pana is raw, vegan, organic, handmade, low GI, dairy free, soy free, gluten free and has no added sugar. Healthy chocolate, sans guilt. For those who haven’t tried raw chocolate before and are at this point feeling rather sceptical reading that list, FEAR NOT! Here’s what the bars DO have:

♥ 50-60% cacao solids (raw chocolate material)
♥ Cacao butter & cacao powder (lots of chocolate-y cacao goodness!)
♥ Agave nectar & coconut oil (yum)
♥ Wild carob, cinnamon & himalayan sea salt
♥ Pure essential oils and superfoods, depending on which flavour you’re lucky enough to be holding in your hot little hands!

So now to the important stuff, what does it actually taste like? I was the lucky recipient of 4 flavours: Cinnamon, Goji & Coconut, Mint & Orange!

♥ It’s rich & fudge-like in consistency. Deliciously so.
♥ While it’s different to milk chocolate, there’s none of the bitterness commonly associated with dark chocolate, which is a win in my book.
♥ The Coconut & Goji flavour has lots of yummy chunks of both goodies throughout.
♥ The other 3 flavours are smooth, as they’re flavoured with ground cinnamon/essential oils.

The best part is, because these bars pack a concentrated chocolatey punch, a square or two is enough to satisfy even the most rampant of sweet tooths. I award this chocolate company a gold star for outstanding flavours, deliciously creamy chocolate & being super healthy and environmentally friendly. Pana Chocolate, will you marry me?

RRP $6.25-$8.50, available to buy online, or check here for your closest stockist and make your way there quick-smart!

Tell me, have you tried Pana Chocolate or seen it around? I’d love to hear what your favourite flavours are – there’s even a limited edition ‘Rose’ flavour that I’m desperate to get my hands on! Lets talk chocolate in the comments!!

This is a sponsored post, however my love for the chocolate is 100% official!

Be well,

  1. I can’t decide whether Mint or Goji Coconut is my favourite flavour so I just HAVE to keep on eating it until I make up my mind. 😉

  2. Josie says:

I’ve only tried the nut one, because I am a nut lover! So keen to try the goji and coconut, as well as mint! You may have inspired me to hit up the health food shop on my break tomorrow…

  3. Lisa O says:

Yum, must try this! Just discovered a new favourite with good lookin’ ingredients… Alter Eco organic and fair trade chocolate. The dark coconut toffee with sea salt is amazing. Chocolate… Not many better topics to discuss!! Xx

  4. Lisa O says:

Ps seen Pana at foodie grocery heaven – Subiaco Farmer Jacks. Their chocolate aisle is ridic xx

  5. Annette @ Wellness WA says:

YES! Love the choccy aisle at Subi Farmer Jacks… sooooo good! And a huge range of Pana and many other delish organic chocs! Might have to make a trip there today… ;)!

PS. Dark coconut toffee with sea salt chocolate? This sounds like HEAVEN! Thanks for the recommendation Lisa!!!

  6. Annette @ Wellness WA says:

And Josie, let me know how you go with the goji/coconut and mint flavours. SO GOOD! I also really enjoyed the orange ones… heck, I love em all :)!

  7. Anneke says:

This brand is by far the best tasting and best textured “raw” choc that I have tried. Other kinds are too grainy. This is to die for. Also I like that it comes in little packages – stops me from gorging myself silly on a family-sized block!!

  8. Annette @ Wellness WA says:

I agree Anneke, you’re so right about the graininess, somehow this just works. I WANT MORE NOW! 🙂

Which one is your fave flavour? Xx

  9. Anneke says:

My favourite flavour is mint, followed by regular choc. I’ve also tried cinnamon but mint is the winner. 🙂

  10. Elizabeth Smollen says:

I have a houseful of friends with me for the festive holidays and someone gave me three blocks of Pana chocolate. We all eagerly tried them and were totally taken aback. The taste was terrible. Every one of us tried them and the remainder of each block has ended in the rubbish bin. YUK! So, sorry guys, not a fan.

  11. Annette @ Wellness WA says:

    Hi Elizabeth,

Wow! I am completely surprised by your experience! I can’t get enough of the stuff, maybe the store that your friend purchased them from picked up an out of date or bad batch as I’ve only heard incredibly glowing testimonials and I myself am a HUGE fan!?!!

I’ve let Pana Chocolate know about your experience and they should be here soon to follow-up with you as I’m sure they’d like to get to the bottom of it as your experience is definitely unique as far as I’m aware.

Fingers crossed we can get to the bottom of it xx
