Spa Review: Yummy Mummy Pregnancy Day Spa, Leederville – Perth.

Yummy Mummy Pregnancy Day Spa

I have an admission – I had never been to a Day Spa before. Considering the fact I’m entering my 27th year on this planet and I have friends who are experts on this matter, this is quite a feat!

So not only was this itself a scary concept, throw in the fact that I am 35 weeks pregnant and incredibly self conscious at the moment, what a better time to take the plunge.

I visited Yummy Mummy Pregnancy Day Spa in Leederville thanks to a gift voucher from my sister and found it to be very welcoming. A friendly smile to greet me, peaceful decor, water offered, I began to feel at ease which was appreciated seeing how nervous I was. The chill out area had comfortable chairs, music and water with freshly cut strawberries in it, why hadn’t I tried this before? I could get used to this!

I had chosen the Aroma Massage and was taken to my treatment room by a friendly masseuse. The room was very discrete and I felt at ease making my own way to the pregnancy friendly table – complete with hole for my belly! This might have been one of the most novel parts of my morning, being able to lie face down. How you take the little things for granted.

It didn’t take me long to ‘let go’ and enjoy the massage. How could I not with the soft music, lovely massage oils and warm towels? For somebody at a time of incredibly vulnerable body image, I didn’t have a problem with a stranger touching me. My poor swollen body sure appreciated it. It was also relaxing to have confidence in the masseur and that everything they were doing was pregnancy friendly – something very important to me.

The time passed quickly and unfortunately my first experience at the day spa came to an end, but it was thoroughly enjoyed and has given me the confidence to treat myself to another! I am sure I will deserve it come 5 weeks time!

The Aroma Massage has the following price points:

50 min -$120

80 min – $160

110 min – $210

This is such a good idea and I read on their website that it’s the only day spa dedicated to pregnancy in Australia!

HERE IN LITTLE OLD PERTH 🙂

Who more deserving of a pampering treat than those bringing other little beings into the world?

So glad you enjoyed it, and that’s cute about the tummy hole thing – hehehe!

What a lovely review! Thanks for sharing not just the technics of it all but how you actually felt during the experience.

What a wonderful idea! I’m 33 weeks pregnant at the moment and would love to be able to go somewhere that was specially for pregnant women, it’d save having to worry about the safety of my little bub.

  4. Annette @ Wellness WA says:

Exactly Anissa! A lot of people don’t realise that not all treatments are suitable for pregnancy. And not all salon / spa staff have been trained for pregnant clients.

You should check it out! 🙂

  5. Oh if only I knew this was around – my friend had a baby late last year and she would have loved a spa like this.

  6. Annette @ Wellness WA says:

It’s still a great idea for mummas because they have a little creche there at certain times too! xx

I was actually very disappointed with the service at Yummy Mummy. The pregnancy massage itself was very poor. I could have forgiven that if the girls at the Spa actually made an effort to make me feel pampered – alas, no. I was made to feel as though they only cared about my $ in the till – e.g. they booted me out to wait in the cold even though I told them that my ride was less than 5 minutes away and they had another client inside. Also, not one question about how I was feeling etc.

I was not impressed and will certainly not be returning – I will also be making my opinion known to the owner of this spa (I understand she also owns Panache) and all my friends/ family.

    Hi Valerie,

I am so sad about your experience- I am the owner and I really want you to contact me so I can find out where (and when) it all went wrong!?!? I want every single woman who comes through our door to feel warm, welcomed and taken care of every single time- which until now is all I have heard was happening 🙁 🙁 🙁 Having been pregnant myself twice I know how uncomfortable you can feel, and it sucks when other day spas won’t actually either have you in at all or take care of your specific concerns.

Please contact me ASAP as I really am just so heartbroken that you didn’t have the experience I really wanted you to have. Shoot me an email with your phone number so we can talk amy @ pregnancydayspa . com . au

    Amy xx

At 38 weeks pregnant I ventured into Yummy Mummy for a pamper session and it was AMAZING. It was so nice to feel so wonderful and relaxed for those few hours and I highly recommend it to everyone, pregnant or not. The staff are very professional and welcoming and compliment the beautiful space. I will definitely be going back!

I’ve been to Yummy Mummy several times during this pregnancy and have been impressed each and everytime with the quality of the service and the attention to detail! The staff remembered not only my name after my first visit but also the name of my first born daughter! There are many things that need to be taken into consideration when indulging during pregnancy and it is fantastic to be able to go somewhere that you trust will ensure that you are not only treated to a relaxing experience but also a safe one for you and your baby. i will certainly be going back again and have recommended the spa to loads of family and friends.

I have been to yummy mummy twice during my pregnancy and would go every week if u could !!! I found the place very relaxing and they massaged everywhere I asked and avoided where I stated. My feet were so swollen and I came out feeling wonderful like all the fluid had shifted from my feet . After my first visit I straight away bought a voucher to treat my sister in law for the week of her wedding and recommended it to my friends in work who loved it.
Can’t wait to go back for massage again after baby born this week. love it love it love it !!!

I’ve also been to yummy mummy and was extremely happy with the treatment I received. It’s so nice to be able to go to a place that knows exactly what pregnant women need, and the fact it has a creche means I’ll definitely be going back with my little one!

It was through Panache that I found out about Yummy Mummy and both places were wonderful and have been recommending them to all my pregnant friends.

I agree, I loved my pamper session at Yummy Mummy when I was 36 weeks pregnant. I changed my mind about what treatments I wanted the day before and they happily accommodated my change of plans. I was kept comfortable during my massage and facial and at the end of my treatments the therapist treated me to a remedial massage on my neck and shoulders as I had a car accident the week before. This was at no extra cost and was very gratefully received! I am a Midwife so was paying particular attention to everything that was said and done and I have to say I was impressed. It was so nice to go somewhere where you don’t have to worry if the therapist knows that you can’t lay flat and that certain oils can’t be used in pregnancy. I’ll be utilising the creche soon 🙂

Been to Yummy Mummy a few times now; while I was pregnant and after giving birth… and all I can say that place is heaven on earth… especially when you’re pregnant with swollen feet eekkk!!! Or just want to chill out from screaming baby (I know it sound selfish but you have to take care of yourself before others) and this is the very place to be.

  16. Mwb says:

I love yummy mummy and don’t have a negative thing to say at all, from the minute I walked through the door I was greeted with a smiling face and was made to feel so warm and welcome, it was the best experience I have had, and I have travelled world wide, it’s a wonderful FANTASTIC business just what the yummy mummies of Perth need.

I visited Yummy Mummy when I was heavily pregnant with my first baby. It was absolute bliss to be pampered and to relax for a few hours when I had been feeling so tired and uncomfortable with my growing belly! The staff made me feel very welcome and I can’t wait for my next pregnancy so I have a good excuse to spoil myself again. I live 700kms from Perth and it was worth the trip!! Keep up the good work ladies xx

  18. Lisa O'Neill says:

I had my first experience with Yummy Mummy today and I was blown away. To get you in the mood, you head to the chill out zone with a glass of iced cucumber water while filling out your pre-massage forms. Then I was lucky enough to have the owner Amy do my massage and it was one of the best I’d ever had… what a relief to finally get to lie on my stomach again with the bump catered for! Amy chatted away to me while I filled out my forms, but as soon as the treatment started the chatter faded away (some massage therapists love chatting through I have found, which can take away from the experience) and I went into blissed out mode. Following I was told to relax and take my time, so I sat back in the chill out zone again this time with a cup of a delicious, sweet herbal tea.
I couldn’t have asked for a lovelier experience, I recommend to all pregnant ladies as a special treat when your body is crying out for some TLC!!
Thank you Yummy Mummy, I will be back.

  19. Annette @ Wellness WA says:

Iced cucumber water sounds delightful and like something I’d love to have in my life even though I’m not pregnant, yum!

Glad you had a great experience Lisa 🙂

  20. Peachy says:

Well I’m not pregnant but this sounds amazing!! I’ll definitely be remembering it for pregnant friends though! It’s one of those simple amazing ideas that you didn’t even realise didn’t already exist because it just make so much sense that it should always have been around ha ha! x
